Affordable options for sloped recessed lighting

We're remodeling our home and many parts of the remodeled home will have cathedral ceilings, up to 11' high. We estimated that we will need about 40 recessed lights for all the sloped ceilings. We've done some research and holy cow are the sloped recessed lights expensive! They are easily $150-200 each. We live in CA so the lights have to be LED and CA title 24 compliant. So my questions are:

1) Are there affordable sloped recessed lights? We've checked out Halo, Nora, and Juno and they're all in the $150-200 range with the trim.

2) I know another and the cheaper option is to do regular light with gimbal/eyeball trim. Will this option work with the pitch of our ceiling (6/12 pitch)? Are there regular lights with gimbal trim that work better for the sloped ceiling?
