Hi. I think you've got some really nice basics. I'm not sure if your paint color is white or gray, but it's a fairly cool color, which I think somewhat inhibits coziness.

If you don't want to paint, maybe consider some nice warm-toned drapes, and a an area rug. Add some tall plants and some books/magazines on your coffee table. I think this would go a long way to making it more homey.

Personally wouldn't add "glam" or "glitz" as that will add more cool tones. If you want metallic accents maybe a nice brushed brass floor lamp would be nice and will tie in with the brass on your fireplace.

Glam, glitz, modern, rustic, clean are wildly different aesthetics. While different styles can be combined into a very attractive whole you need some direction.

Have you spent much time browsing the photos section of Houzz? If you save some pictures to an ideabook, other users will be able to see what you're drawn to and then we can give you some specific ideas on how to acheive the same look in your room.

You could add a chair and ottoman in the corner between the fireplace and tv wall for some more seating. Also I would add baskets with throw blankets or poufs underneath the tv shelving to make it feel more grounded like in the image below. Curtains would also make it feel more cozy and a large mirror with a gold frame would add some glitz. I would do a round one if it were me. Also the room could benefit from some greenery as well as vertical lines. A large ficus tree in front of the windows would do great! Hope this helps inspire you a bit!

So much you could do. For one I would Put a large Mirror above fireplace. Do you need the ceiling fan? I would put something else in or if you need ceiling fan replace. I'd get never leave junk visible. You are getting there!

Oh hanging curtains high will add a little more luxe as well.

i was wanting to take it out n put in a chandelier but idk if thats too much in place of the ceiling fan...

I vote to start by removal of that more than nasty carpet. Putdown hardwoods or get new carpet that is tighter in the loom. Get some modern panels for the windows, and a modern credenza below the TV.

The color scheme needs a lot of work. The color of the sectional looks dark green on my iPad, the rug looks goldish, and the walls are light blue. The pink throw looks out of place there because it goes with nothing else. You have no art. The tv and tiny shelves look marooned on the wall. You need a console under the tv and some other furniture on that wall. You need window treatments. If you can't change the carpet, change the wall color. Go to Home Depot or a paint store and get some color scheme sample cards. (And the small cabinet or shelf unit with the cleaning supplies needs a new home!!)

my walls are grey but theres this purple undertone that is showing more then i wanted..but its a light grey look in light.....my couch is dark grey...my floating shelfs are white..

the carpet is beige... sorry pictures dont do much justice...but once we have money im doing vinyl flooring

Decorating your home is a journey. It really doesn't happen overnight! Unless you really love painting, I'd try some of the design changes suggested. I think a gray with a purple undertone is a really good wall color choice, and goes great with your sofa.

I really like the constructive ideas Peyton's offered, particularly I like the greenery and mirror and books on the coffee table in Peyton's photo. Just those few changes could make a big difference. Also, maybe swap out for a heathery-amethyst soft throw for a little more integration of colors.

just a few suggestions.

you need a bit of warmth through natural wood. see the plant holder? a warm wood coffee table would be better than that country style dark one you have. it doesn't work w/your decor needs. or do a metal table w/a white marble top. or some thing like this and a chair next to your tv. notice the light on this one, along w/table and rug.

when you do your new floor, get a rug in front of the sofa.

replace the fan with a chandelier of some sort.

you need some other blinds other than white. I just threw in these gray woven woods in the pic, but roman blinds w/a pattern or something like these would also work

for that little wall area, it looks like you need a small desk of some sort. why not do a shallow, floating desk top like this, small chair and some shelving over it. (and the person that stuck those light switches that far in the middle of the wall should be flogged)

or,if no desk, put something like this against that wall, along w/the art

@Ms Roxy by changes I mean any added furniture, decor, etc. Anything you will add ro or subtract from the room to help get it looking the way you're envisioning.

You've gotten some really beautiful ideas here, I was just wondering how much you can spend to make it happen. Knowing your budget would help people make targeted suggestions.

For example if you have $100 to spend, I'd suggest some fun art or maybe a closed cabinet to replace the small organizer with your cleaning supplies on it. If you have $2000, I would suggest doing the vinyl floor you mentioned.

personally, I'd remove the white shelves and replace it w/walnut console or credenza of some sort. the room is bordering on very cold and one dimension. wood, plants, all lend some texture and organic life into the room. (i'm really not a hippie).

if you need shelves, do them next to the tv with a little chair. do a potted plant in an actual color for the other corner. (fiddle leaf fig tree)

see how much warmer and cozier this set up looks? you don't have to cram it with stuff, but just take some cues of what you like

bring home some samples. nothing w/red tones. just warm, neutral browns, or whites and grays. or black if you really want drama.

Clear the mantel and put art or a mirror above it. There’s room for a painting to the right of the window.

An interesting pot/vase/sculpture would look good on the shelves.

Reposition the shelves so the the TV can come down to SEATED eye level for more comfortable viewing. Again, art will help.
