Which curtains?

Hello all!

I previously posted about my dining room and what paint color to use based on a painting. I got a lot of feedback and decided to go with a warm gray as there are many colors in the painting. Since grays are a dime a dozen, I'd like to pick the curtains first since they're more difficult to find. There is a little orange in the painting that I'd like to accent with the curtains, to balance out all cool colors in the painting and bring in bright colors. With all that said, we ordered 2 sets, a bright orange and a rusty orange. What do yall think?

Additional things to note: the red blanket on the floor is just where my dog sleeps when I work. The carpet is a beige, the table matches the colors of the chairs but I'm hoping to refinish them and recover the chairs. I plan on getting a new chandelier, something black or wrought iron and a little rustic. Also the curtain rods are black. So dark metals, warm gray wall, bright curtains and colorful painting.

No orange and that painting is hung too high, I would choose a very soft teal for drapes with a soft gray for the walls and the drapes need to be about twice as full as the ones on there now.

You could paint the picture frame orange and get soft blue drapes as Patricia suggested. Maybe orange and blue seat covers for the dining chairs. The drapes you posted are too heavy looking. Maybe a print curtain and solid chair seats.

none and the paint is too high

    This is a nice combo.

the paint needs a lighter frame, the black doesn't contribute to pop the art

I like the drapes shown in the two pictures above that have the orange color, but not solid orange. The lighter background is visually appealing and draws the eye to the orange accents instead of overpowering them.

I like the bright orange! Brings in some fun and color. I like the orange patterned ones people have posted better, though. They bring some nice interest into the room. I also think you need real curtain rods. The curtains should be hung higher and wider. The way these are hung make your windows look small.

Also, I would not reframe the painting. The black adds to the mystery feeling of the painting because the colors almost fade into the black at the outside edges. I think it would change the feeling of the painting if framed in a different color.

I agree with the comment from TKTR Architects. The solid orange is overpowering, whereas the pattern accents the color and draws your eye to the orange in both the curtains and painting.

Is there any other colors you are using in your home besides what is in the painting? I like the pattern window treatments that was suggested. Maybe changing the table cloth.

Both are overpowering. You want to see the picture or the curtains? Do as Patricia advised.

I looooooove the bright orange! Go with what YOU love. I know I would hate teal ;-)

Since the carpet is beige, I would look at a greige for the walls rather than a pure gray. Maybe it's me, but I don't care for either curtain choice. I would paint the walls first and then choose generous floor to ceiling panels in a neutral color on sturdier rods. The windows aren't really the focal points of a dining room, right? You can add color with accessories. Best of luck; can't wait to see the finished room!

Why do you want orange window treatments I see more of a mauve, purple and pink in the painting with the blue
