Does your glass subway come with a bullnose? I agree to stop at the cabinet on the first photo. On the second I'd still stop at the end of cabinets and just paint the wing wall. If you decide to wrap around the corner, there is a line of metal super thin liners by Schluter you can use to finish the edge of tile that does not come with bullnose. No right or wrong way, just personal preference!!

spartan, we had the same problem. We just had a backsplash put in and I'm already going to change it. We had a corner exactly like your second picture. Our tile guy continured the tile along the side wall to the edge of the granite. I think it looks way to heavy and out of balance with the rest of the kitchen. I'm going to have him remove it, stop at the corner and then have a single row of tile along the extended granite edge. He says he has seen it both ways and it's just a matter of preference.

In the 1st application, I like to have a 3" back splash of the same material as the countertop that goes to the end of the counter and then have the rest the back splash, your glass tiles, end with the cabinets. In the 2nd application, I don't usually continue the back splash around the corner. I would end it on that wall. If you want anything, I'd do the 3" side-splash of the counter top material.

Design 1 Kitchen & Bath thanks so much. The tile shop we are going with recommended the thin silver strip to make it look a bit more finished if we end at the cabinet on image two. As you are correct there is not a bull nose. I was just a bit unsure how common that is.

Viennar, also totally agree with you. The painter tried to convince me that my preference was wrong, and to go to the counter-top in both cases. But I just had a fear of it looking to heavy. Thanks so much for the fast replies. You have no idea how helpful you've both been!

It would be a 3" high strip of the counter top material that wraps around the sidewall in your 2nd image. I'm not always crazy about them, but they do serve their purpose as when the counter is not a perfect fit against the wall (lots of walls are not straight!) or when there is water close by. Hope that helps.

Spartan25 - do you have a picture of the finished look as I am having the same dilemma of where to end our backsplash. The counter extends 4 inches beyond the upper cabinets. Adding to cabinet is not possible as there is a bulkhead. Would appreciate a picture.
