No real ideas, but I'm in the same place you are except I live in North Alabama. Laundry in garage. No place inside. Garage used for storage.

We did put some white Estate storage cabinets from Lowes between the washer/dryer and the garage door. Two tall ones with a hanging bar inbetween. also put some over the washer/dryer to hold stuff and I put some pretty things on top of them and put a rug in front of the appliances.

We don't have lizards thank goodness. It gets dusty though and very cold in the winter. It is hot in the summer, but I can handle that.

Will be following this. Hope you get some good ideas.

This is what I would do:

1) Remove everything from the garage

2) Clean everything. Plug holes or gaps in walls, if any. Epoxy the floor - or similar. Paint the walls bright white or a happy color for you.

3) Organize and purge the stuff going back into your garage. Use cabinets on wheels or legs or cleats, slat walls or storage that hangs from the ceiling. Keep items from resting on the floor so you can see those lizards before they make a home in your space.

I assume your laundry area is on that step up where most are located within the garage. If you have room add some features to make it easier to do your laundry: folding table with easy clean top, shelves for laundry supplies, rack to hang clothing as you pull from the dryer (rack with wheels) or something else that is important to you.

The key is getting everything off the floor and making it super clean so you can see what is going on. Upside to this is that a clean bright space is a pleasure to work in.

I live here in S Fl too. The lizards will get in the garage so you have to be able to see the floor to get rid of them as soon as they pop in....JMO
