SW's Extra White or PPG's Delicate White. Get samples, test thoroughly.

IMO you are just overwhelmed with all the new , add some great warm colors to the kitchen with some accessories a bit warmer lighting and relax in a month this will not be a big deal.And yes painting the walls around them would be good but IMO not another white , maybe a really soft green almost any color but white.

You are absolutely right, so overwhelmed! I appreciate your advice - this was my plan... but it's been two months and I cannot seem to shake it (at all). I do think we will add some paint for contrast but the blueish cabinets I fear will still drive me nuts!

@whitneyjohnsen...are you familiar with Maria Killam? Check our her website and blog. It might be worth an e-design consult with her to help you choose the perfect wall color that will make the blue undertone in your cabinets less noticeable. I hope you find a solution that you are happy with soon!

How disappointing to spend so much time and effort and have it look off to you! Can you back up and take a picture of the entire kitchen so we can see counters and floors? What color cabinets did you sign off on? Do you have a sample still? This happened to a friend of mine when she bought a condo in a brand new development. She had opted not to upgrade her kitchen cabinets because she liked the stain of the “basic color” in the model home, but it turned out the builder had changed stain colors between the model and the next couple of buildings. She was very disappointed, but once she repainted the walls the cabinets looked better.

So sorry for your heartbreak nothing worse than having your new home excitement be overshadowed by this. I have used a BM white called distant grey and love it. I am not sure it will work for you, but thought I would throw it out there.

Call in someone for a color consultation so that you're not surprised again by the result. You should have someone consider the light in the room, the floor color and the adjacent room colors. White will reflect all of these things and look different than any chip.

You will be very focused on the result and don't want to be disappointed again. The cost of the consultation will be minimal, compared to the refinishing costs. Just our of curiosity, how much will the factory refinish cost you?

In the context of this forum and this color and design community choosing the wrong color - for cabinets or anything else in a remodel - sucks. A lot.

Most people get ONE shot at a remodel. ONE shot at making their space their "dream home" or "dream kitchen" and when it's a miss it is absolutely heartbreaking. Heartbreakingly expensive and heartbreakingly disappointing.

No, it's not life or death but no one here is implying or ever has implied that it was. So, there's my version of some reasonable perspective. #funcolorsneverleftthebuilding

I would suggest you paint the walls. The blue tinge is more noticeable because it's right against a warmer white paint. It doesn't help that your backsplash and countertop are also white. There's too much white on white on white with not enough texture or contrast. Painting the walls will be much more affordable than refinishing cabinets. Something in a medium tone like a taupe or warm gray will still help keep up your look. The main thing is to keep an eye on your undertones.

You will need the exact color names/formulations as white on white is very tricky and all color depends on light and time of day and a thousand other things. Combining different whites is a real art!! Doing them right is the key to a beautiful tone on tone 'white' home. Step back and get some help.

My husband often quotes a movie ( a very dumb, funny movie - Anchor Man), but the quote couldn't apply better "that escalated quickly" ...I'm sorry if anyone's feeling were hurt in the discussion, truly.

So as for the cabinets in mention - the color is one that the factory designates, not one I chose from a paint store...but I do think that yes, it is Decorator White - as in the popular BM color. A popular, albeit cool white, color - yes? However, not the color I thought I was getting...Thoughts, please!

I am definitely am open to the idea of adding color to the walls for contrast...I just so love the all-white look.

whitneyjohnsen, Okay - that is what I thought it was. My cabinets are that color.

The pic below is before my backsplash was put in.

Also, all of my trim and doors are the same.

You see the warmer color on the bottom in the picture above? I wanted a distinction between the cool trim, and the wall below. So I chose a slightly warmer white - but only slightly as I did not want anything "creamy" at all. I prefer cooler tones. The lower wall is BM Snowfall White - and it is a bit warmer than Simply White. I love the way it makes my trim pop out.

DW is definitely a cool white, but it looks even cooler against a much warmer white, which can make it have those blue-gray tones you are seeing. I don't see those tones in my kitchen, but I don't have all the warm white walls that you do, either.

I would go back to the paint store and compare the Simply White to a few others. Cloud White might be a good one for you. Or SW Pure White could also look nice.

Whitney, what you have now is gorgeous. It might not be what you had in mind, but no one knows that but you. I spend so much time here looking at kitchens as I'm renovating too. I can't tell you how many kitchens I've seen with that same white and each time in the space where you ask questions, there are always people wanting to know what color white that is. That greyed white is quite the look now. It's the perfect white to mix with white marbles. I wouldn't repaint them as it's a great color for so many different looks.

Maria Killiam is not the jackpot. She's formulaic. I really dislike her "rules". She's a great salesperson.

I think you should try painting the walls a color first because I think that makes a huge impact. We are building a house in a subdivision so color choices are limited. I told our sales lady that I wanted white cabinets. She, and the other salesman, warned me that they had a blue cast to them. They kept trying to talk me into the cream but I want white. They had me go look at a house that had them with the builder’s Dover White walls. The cabinets looked blue! But I had no other options for white so decided to get them anyway hoping wall paint would help. When we went to the design center to officially pick them they didn’t look blue at all. They were the perfect white! I’ve been worried that the sample wasn’t actually the same color and they’d still be blue. Last week my sales lady got me a scrap of trim to take to pick out my granite. No blue! So, my point is, it’s the stupid wall paint that makes them look blue. So I will have to paint my walls so my cabinets look good. Here’s a kitchen we looked at (not our floor plan). The cabinets look like the color from a spray paint can. Their counters don’t help either.

These cabinets are decorator white and look how warm the whole kitchen is. They even used a warm white subway tile with it and warm paint. A gorgeous kitchen. The cabinets are just one component of the kitchen. No it's not a white on white kitchen but it's beautiful and would solve your problem. Here's a link to it.
