It will help!* Sometimes after a wetter winter, the bulk of next season's rains come much later. Sometimes they forget to show up at all. I try to hold out hoping for natural drips, but the irrigation system has to fill the gaps when necessary.

I did the exact same thing you did m ml! Planted half of what I planned to like crazy in Jan, since we've only had one significant rain event since last May. Even my established natives were looking horrific. The Jan storm gave us 3.6 inches much too fast. Really wish a light steady sprinkle would come. And today's heat and wind feels like summer way too early! Will any new plantings survive?

Thanks all for commiserating with me.. I am so concerned about the people in Santa Barbara, Ojai and Montecito, that I won't complain anymore, but I do I wish it would rain.. just a little.

Not looking good for Feb. The forecast up to Feb 13 calls for above temps in the 70s and sunny conditions. It has really only rained ONCE in L.A this winter. ONCE. I like the warmth, but I miss the rain. We need it.

I got excited the other day when the weather link showed a chance of showers...until I realized the site had dumped my programed city, and the showers were going to be in Washington DC. Dang.

The winds were so crazy and drying in the Santa Monica mountains this weekend (gusts up to 70 MPH) that I kept running out at the commercial breaks from the Grammys to water. My kids and husband thought I was crazy till I explained that new plants are like babies, they can't get dehydrated. Of course, they still really think I am crazy but at least they now understand why I am doing it.. : )
