Do I dare paint these?

They are maple and maple veneer, and over time have turned a yucky yellow color. This is the bedding for that room, and as you can see the carpet is beige and the walls are currently "Dulux Waterchestnut", but probably will get painted out in a teal color on at least one wall.

I was thinking a grey for the furniture. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I think that they'd look great painted kimdee24. Are you daring enough to paint them coral or orange? If you do paint them, try and go for a really hi gloss. Probably using a really smooth foam roller, perhaps see how much a painter would charge to spray them with a pro sprayer. Auto body paint at body shop would be really smooth and glossy and make pieces really high end looking. But I have no idea how much that would be up north. Maybe worth a look?

I really like the style of them. I think painting them will give them new life. They look to be in good shape overall. I like the gray with the bedspread but to keep it from looking like a hand me down I would stick to black or white.

Coral would go nicely with the color scheme -- I'm not sure I'm brave enough! There's a furniture guy in town who does this kind of thing, might be worth an ask.

If it turns out to be too expensive, I can do it myself.

Changing light switches, painting furniture, where does it end!?! Supergirl!
I vote for brave, would be stunning :) might as well paint a large sample board and sit it in there for a few days, you might love it

Did you see HGTV smart home in Florida? Outside dining table had that auto body finish, very cool

I agree...a mandarin or bright poppy or coral would be a great contrast. Burgundy would be more subdued. Tie it together with a patterned multi-colored pillow & some art. I posted a few examples. Love the color combo of the last photo!!!!

Brite Yellow or teal. They are nice and have clean modern lines. Adding a pop of color would be fun.

White or coral! White is safe!
