I think chrome in your coffee table style would look best with the other elements in the room. The gold seems "off" for the floor color. The nail heads and knobs on your console is silver as well. You have mixed wood tones in the floor, console and accent chairs, so adding another wood could work nicely. And, save you some windex time. :)

Now I understand. Sounds like you need to eliminate some of your contenders,you've too many. I would eliminate any that aren't the right size; all that stray too far into Glam category since your room looks like an MCM/Glam amalgam: and I'd eliminate the tables with excess geometry at the base because they will date quickly and distract from the classic design of your chairs too much. Next,decide if a marble tray would work to introduce the marble element you want? Lastly,are they within the budget you've set? Now,since I don't know the size needed or your preferred budget,only tables 2,3,4 and 11 look like contenders within those parameters. (& 2 and 3 are only in contention if you think a marble tray suits you) Of course,my parameters aren't necessarily yours. This is just a way to think about it when you're spoiled for choice. ....and have you considered/eliminated rounds or ovals?

I'm seeing a lot of suggestions for a non-rectangular table - style wise, i'm liking the suggestion from celery girl and mjlb. Which do you think evokes the glam and mcm style (you hit it on the head)? If I were to choose one of the tables which you broke mine down into, I'd say 3,4,11 or the two suggestions. Please lend me some more advice to narrow down! (They are all within budget).

Any suggestion? RE: little things on the table - i'm in a new house and unpacking, all of that will move as soon as i have the table. After that , I'll add a bit of color pops such as pillows and wall art.

Do you want people sitting at both the couch and the chairs to comfortably reach the table,does not matter, or are you planning something for between the chairs? The Thomasville table is a 43 inch round,the CB2 is an oval 40" by 25". Would function differently. Both are an inch or two lower than your couch seat.

Personally, I lean rectangle & mixed materials (glass and marble= more glam,glass and wood = more MCM) for the space. Of course,could be that Grover's dog is controlling my aesthetics.

@hollybar - I was really planning to put a small garden stool or something like that for in between the chairs, but I would like the coffee table to be somewhat functional. This isn't the main sitting room for guests - I have another den, so this would be somewhat more formal.

So for rounds - which are you leaning towards and why the CB2 or the Thomasville - I'm tied with both.

For rectangles, I am trying to go more glam - so I'm leaning towards 3 or 4 - but 11 is the most budget friendly because I'd have to recreate it (it's an IKEA hack) and i'm not sure how luxe it would end up looking. Your thoughts?

I'd lean CB2 because while I think the Thomasville looks ab fab, I wouldn't want to obscure the rug so much. Plus I like the flow ovals create. Rectangle,well I love 4.

@groveraxle - love the pillow and kind of love the art, but not so much the table. I think you are getting a good feel for the look I'm going for. How do you feel about the art below? (I like your taste in art). Also, how do you get stuff into the image of my living room?

Jennifer, I use Photoshop. One of the reasons I chose that table (and
some of the previous ones I put in your room) is because they have a bit
more individuality than the glass and brass at the top of the page. I do like the idea of getting some metallic gold in this space; I'd like to see something a little less common than a glass and brass box.

Now, as they say, art is personal and you have to make the final choice, but if I were looking to hang something, the only ones above I'd look twice at might be the last two. I try to choose art that fits the vibe of the room, but beyond that, it has to speak to me in some way, usually by invoking a feeling or a story. And it has to keep me interested because I know I'm gonna be looking at it every day for a long time.

Hi Jennifer! I found this great coffee table that may like. The table top is marble and the gold finish will for sure complement your blue couch. I have also found a throw pillow that will make your couch looks more well put and luxe. Hope this works. Give us an update!

I agree with the glass/brass need without the conventional box (boring) and I could definitely put a marble vase or tray on top if needed. It's the dance between safe and not...and not trying to get something that could get dated quickly. I love the goede art and love that you added yellow/gold art to complement the room. Looks great. First, let me tell you I love everything in your room! Great choice of furniture style and color. I couldn't agree more, a minimalist, simple coffee table is the right choice here.

I love the Noguchi Coffee Table (Darcy at the top of this post also recommended something similar) in this room but my only concern was that it wouldn't lend itself to the "glam" part of my design. I want to go a little more glam than MCM, but it's a mix. I was thinking that I could put a gold and marble tray on top it/just accessorize. What do you think?

I like the Binberrie coffee table groveraxle has shown a lot and the Anthropologie one. I like the round shape and the gold frame and angles. I think you need something that isn't a straight rectangle for a little interest. The round repeats the circle of your drum light shade -- the gold make help carry an element into your DR. Another option would be something along this line, though this is not quite what I was looking for.

@keri24615 - I also loved that table! But i feel like it leans too much away from the glam part of the equation and is a bit masculine. That table is also much lower than my chairs and I can't find one with a proper height. What do you think of the three tables in my post from 10 minutes ago?

Of the three tables you just posted, the third would be my choice. I don't care much for the proportions of the other two. Of course, I personally could never do a glass table. Doggy nose prints, you know.

Whatever coffee table you are considering for its aesthetics, please consider its weight. You will have to move it (not just lift a corner) to sweep/vacuum around it.

@groveraxle....exactly my issue...with a dog and a newborn that will become a toddler before I know it the edges and the glass might be something to reconsider. I want glass and brass but really, i might have to go with one of the other ones...still trying to work it out...

ALL: I'm probably not going to go with the glass and choose one of these - can any one of these keep the airy feel of the room? Any opinions?:

I would go with the second one. I prefer a rectangular coffee table in your space. I am not fond of the shelf on the last one it's just asking for more clutter. Keep it simple and airy. The openness of the base and the light top in the second image achieves that in my opinion. I am not sure what the top is made of it but if it's natural stone be sure to seal it. I have a limestone top coffee table that we sealed and it has held up well.
