Kitchen island help !

We are debating between creating a 11’x5’ kitchen island with waterfall edge w/mitered edge vs a Bulthaup design with a wooden bar top. Both kitchens are Bulthaup designs.
The wooden bar top breaks up the expansive counter surface with an area to congreagte snack / eat and may be more inviting but the waterfall just looks great / clean also. Our home remodel style will be very modern. Any thoughts as to what would be more timeless as we are on the fence? Aesthetics? Any other thoughts to help us?
