Thanks Klfische....We have 39 inch’s between island and stove and even more between island and fridge. Nothing obstructing dishwasher or oven.

What would you think about moving the island away from the main sink for 3'6" spacing and widening the island to around 5' (instead of 4) or even a little larger. Move the island closer to the bar area for approx. 5' 3" walkway (instead of 5'6"). Visually the current island looks underscaled for the space and off balanced. You have good instincts to enlarge it.

If you’ve got a big kitchen, don’t be afraid to go for a big island, especially if it will be used for entertaining. There’s rarely too much counter space.

In this Houzz project they listed the island as 10' x 4', so you can get a visual. With your kitchen size, it can accommodate a larger island than 10 x 4. You can create an island more like 5' or even 5' 7" as the example in the 1st photo. You have the space and it will look more balanced.

Thank you sooo much Christina! I was looking for that additional support to enlarge the island! Only trick though is the entry into the kitchen and den ...I don’t want to narrow it too much where it becomes a problem...can I go to 11 feet long on the island (making the passageway 4’6”? see photo below:

5' should be a nice walkway. revision: You could go smaller if you do not have a lot of traffic back and forth from the den area. You can go anywhere from 4' to 5' depending on amount of traffic. What did you decide on the island size. Thank you

I think you have your aisles reversed. You need a wider work aisle--42" counter-to-counter minimum, but a passage with no appliances can be as narrow as 36". I'd make the work aisle 48", and the passage 48-54", depending on the cabinet configuration of the island.
