contemplating a kitchen extension

I am in the early stages of planning a kitchen remodel. We are considering extending our kitchen out about 8 feet. My question is this. I was hoping to have my sink on the outside wall of the addition. However, the extension will not have a basement under it. We live in a cold area - upstate NY. Will this prohibit our putting a sink in that area?

Maybe. Depends on the actual construction details. You need an architect. And it will not be cheap to do this.

Are you planning on putting the addition on a slab? If so you could do in floor heating

Yes, it would be on a slab. In floor heating is something we are thinking of.

No slabs in upstate NY. The frost line is too deep. Uncoupling it from frost heave and attaching it to an already existing basement construction is way too risky. You will have separation between the two.
