Next please post some pics of rooms you like on houzz so we can get a better idea of your style. What are the approximate dimensions of the room? What colors are you looking to use? How many people will use the room? Any furniture that must stay or must go?

Looking to mix old with new room is roughly 250sqf , greens blues whites for room colors, side board must stay. I like a modern romantic look

Here are some ideas under modern romantic on houzz:

More Living Room Help needed!

The room does have nice windows. Will this room accommodate both the living room and dining room? I was thinking an L shaped sectional with one leg on the left and the other facing the windows.. Dining table to the right.

I highly recommend swapping out your curtain sheers for some new window treatments that will diffuse light better and make the room stand out. Maybe adding window treatments with some color to them to accent the floors. Check out Hunter Douglas window treatments. Something like Duette Honeycombs with top down/bottom up or Silhouette Privacy Sheers would look really nice.
