It's J's jeep with a ladder on top of it! lol!
The fireplace is old brick with mortar/stucco on it! Well the fireplace materials were all free except for the mortar. So not too shabby. :)

Ugh. Forgot to pick up mushroom soup at Costco today, so have absolutely nothing to make for dinner. Have a bunch of leftover BBQ chicken was going to make chicken & dumplings with, but it requires soup.

Weirdest thing yesterday. Was stopped at a light by my house at a very busy intersection. Suddenly hear a vehicle honking from a parking lot behind me. Guy stops at the corner, and another guy comes running up to him and they have words - almost a fight. Then original guy walks away and almost gets hit by cars. Notice the vehicle that was honking is now stopped behind me. Light turns, I go along my merry way, but take notes of the make/model of the vehicle in case I see it by the house. Last night, see same vehicle in the online paper - was stolen and involved in a rollover in the river valley south of here. Suspects fled and police suspect its linked to a recent drug related assault. Weird...

Since we don't live next door to each other (and that would probably be awesome) I am free to go get one for myself then, mp!
MP... It just amazes me that you can look at something so pretty and find a place for it....
I would look at that and say "what a pretty flower, but what would I do with it?"
@MP...LOVE all the cool stuff you've done!! Very nice, and very cool!!
    I'm with you Patty!
pattyann, haven't you ever seen something and said, "i don't know what I am going to do with this yet, but I have to have it?"
@bobbi...I can spot a law enforcement vehicle blindfolded from ten miles away..ha ha!! Only took one bad experience.

Bobbi, the beds are really old, they originally belonged to one of BH's brothers and when dd and her hubby split, SIL passed a heap of old furniture they no longer needed to dd. DD is slowly getting on her feet financially and getting better beds organised for the kids. I needed new beds for the kids's room but it is only a small room so difficult to fit 2 beds in. I was going to get a trundle but the style of these beds that seems to be no longer available is much more practical, so I bought dd the last bed she needed in exchange for the bunks. They won't get a lot of use but I just wanted to do them up to make them look nice in the room, especially with all the new linen and everything. The rest of the furniture is a bit of a mismatch, but I'm not too fussed about it - we will call it "eclectic".

Guess I better figure out what's for dinner myself... Thanks for the reminder Robin...
Maybe breakfast... that's always an easy out... LoL
    Later ladies...
Yes hadymam... but it usually sits around for a long time and DH says... "Now why did you just HAVE to have that?"

    OK... Later
When in doubt...burgers on the grill...easy..make sure u get YER BUNS though!!
@judy...YES those shorts, the lamp shade...and have u seen those beer can croqueted hats? That would complete the ensemble.
That's funny you guys brought this up - I just walked out front and nearly walked into a birdcage stand BH had moved yesterday when he was stripping the stain. GDD used to have budgies when she was younger and we had the stand for the cage. It is really rusted now but is quite decorative and I refuse to throw it out because I want to do "something" with it. BH has tried putting it in a clean up twice but I have been too quick for him. One day I might get time to do "something" with it.
oldroo, next summer, just stick a fern in there and put it in the shade.
Robin - wow! Glad their shouting match didn't turn into anything more serious while you were there in the middle of it all.
handy - yes I can hang a pot in it and was thinking of a trailing plant. I was going to get the rust off it and paint it but thinking maybe the rust is quite acceptable in the garden.
Yes, you may want to spray it with something to keep it from rusting further and falling apart though.
roo, the rust was hard earned and adds to the charm.
I would hate to see it break from the rust though. Is there anything you can do to prevent any further rust but preserve what there is? A clear sealer of some sort?

But a funky color like fluorescent pink would be fun...
I would have just been a witness. I was thinking about calling the cops, but figured by the time they were all done scrapping, the cops wouldn't be there yet, and given it would have been a mutual fight, the cops wouldn't have had much to do about it anyways. Just weird that they would draw attention to themselves if they were driving a stolen truck with a smashed up windshield.
just cooked din din...talapia, carrots, and mushroom, pepper, onion, broccoli mix! with orange on the fish and carrots! pretty dang good for having nothing in the house!
If you look at the firepit/place there is a metal basketball pole beside it....that will be the main stem of the flower sculpture! But I would like to have 2 flowers, sprouting out from the top...way up high! That was the only thing out there when I bought the house. That pole and a round cement pad!
Yes, there is an anti rust I can just paint on, I might do that. It has been outside for at least 20 years now so doesn't look like it is about to fall apart in a hurry, but if it does ............... well it will be one excuse to get rid of it. I won't be here forever and it won't be going anywhere once I leave.

Robin, I would be more likely to do a lime green. I'm wondering if you should just call the cops to report what you witnessed, you just never know what extra info they might be wanting. Many years ago I was taking the joeys to training, we were cutting it fine on time, and passed a guy standing in the bush beside a load of syrofoam boxes and a van. Had we not been running late, I would have stopped and abused him for littering. Anyway next morning headlines in local rag about this guy being kidnapped and tied up and all the goods in his van stolen. I was tempted to call the cops but figured I had nothing to tell and the paper never gets info right so didn't think about the difference in what I saw and what was written, but days later the guy was charged with fraud - he had "kidnapped" and "robbed" himself. Had I made that call and reported exactly what I saw, it would have solved the case for the cops there and then.

mp -- that's a whole lot more than I had to work with for dinner! Sounds good. I made penne with marinara sauce and shrimp, and baked in the oven with cheese on top. Would've been better if I'd had the stuff to make my own sauce instead of the jarred stuff I found in the pantry. But it was dinner and my belly is full.
Robin -- they did say there was a fourth guy involved that they didn't have a description for.
Roo...I LOVE u!! You seriously need to be a commentator, journalist or story writer of some kind...I can literally SEE what u say!!
I wouldn't be able to give a good description of these guys. I seriously thought about calling last night, to the point where I dialed the non emergency number, but realized I didn't have an awful lot of info to tell them.

On another note, DD's allergies have started up again. To the dog. I feel like crap on all counts.

Good night, morning all,, this woman right here is tired, long day and will be a long night. Have to study for this quiz that I failed last week. Came home and took, a nap. Proud to say that I am now officially sold on taking public transportation to my internship. Took me less than ten minute to make it to bus stop and the bus drive took less than 45 minutes to make it to intern. So twice a week I can save money, gas and get to work stress free because I do not have to fight traffic what more can a girl ask for. I just skim through all the updates it is obvious that all is well in the OLLDS land. I made some curry fish last night that was out of this world. Leftovers today was so much better. MP-that ish is awesome.
Thanks Jayme, I actually get told that a lot but it is just how things bubble out of me - it is 100% me and I don't know how to do things any other way. I also get into a lot of trouble for taking too long to tell stories too - maybe the written word is better than the verbal. :)

Just taking a breather - the floors are all scrubbed, now off to clean the windows and all the heavy chores are FINISHED!!! Beautiful day here today, not a cloud in the sky and I'm stuck inside scrubbing!!! Could be worse I guess, if it was raining my motivation would have drowned. Supposed to only be 16 deg which is about average for winter but it feels much warmer.
OLLD's, I have a question.....what color is pewter supposed to be? Isn't supposed to be a very dull silver? I ask because these tables I bought were described as pewter but I would call them charcoal! Actually, dull black!
Angela - you will have to bribe your lecturer into putting a few Houzz questions in your quizzes. Woowoo - double zeds there - all the more reason.
Bobbi, pewter is a metal - yes a dull silver at that - maybe it just can't be reproduced in paint. Dull black sounds a good description for charcoal. Where are you putting them?
They're a coffee table and two end tables. Some assembly required! And little stryofoam pieces everywhere. I actually vacuumed three times today!

Angela, glad to see you back!
Do not think that is going to work when it comes to Research, experimental design, hell this is the part of school that I hate. I hate it so much that I avoid it like a plague and end up not doing what I am suppose to do and then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
Plus this teacher is more annoying than me, she talks fast, moves around a lot, my first class having her and it is driving me nuts.
Angela, sometimes we are our own worst enemy! When stuff like this happens to me, I tell myself JUST DO IT. Don't think about it, just get it done and over with!
    You're not annoying! You're OLLD!
Night all! Except Roo, morning Roo!
bobbi -- omg, I did I ever mention ho much I HATE styrofoam? I probably did. I finally got rid of all the stryofoam that came with various things I bought. But I"m STILL sweeping the little bits out of the garage.

roo -- I am jealous. If winter was 16 degrees here, I'd be a happy, happy girl.
kd - we still complain it is cold but it is all relative really.

I'm still laughing at Bobbi and the ceiling fan - the way you said it made it even funnier. Talk more about your tables tomorrow.

Angela - you have to look at the big picture and think of the end result. YOU WANT THIS!!! Nothing is ever perfect there are always downsides to things so just focus on it being an inconvenience to be got out of the way asap. Having to do a test twice only makes it more onerous.
Bobbi – About that Mitchell Parker article on OLLD, you might ask for approval on what he plans to write. Sometimes that sort of “publicity” has unintended negative consequences .. like people complaining that OLLDs don’t just talk about Houzz subjects, or highlighting anything negative people have said in the group. We’ve already had a few people drop in to make snarky comments, one acting like she wanted to be a member of the group .. until she realized we “weren’t as nice as she thought originally”.

To be honest, I kind of liked the days when people were invited to OLLD, by one of the long-time posters in the group.

Some of the topics that come up seem very personal to me, and it’s much more comfortable switching to the private AARP group, for those.
Astraea - good point on asking Mitchell his plans, as you say we do get a lot of flak and we don't want to be seen as tall poppies in any way.
roo, love your expression of tall poppies!
    Very common saying here.
