Your dilemma?

What to use the room for, should I do construction to remove doors? I have to sell in 4 years

Home office/man cave-den. Doesn't have to be sports on the flat screen. But make it a cozy den with your leather couch and watch Downton Abbey or documentaries! Add a desk and make it your command center with computer. Some nice built in for storage and it can be your catch all room. Are you considering painting? Would lighten up the color - a bit too much mustard in it. Maybe one area of a wall dedicated to cork tiles and you can frame it in crown molding to make a giant bulletin board for fun photos/momentos. Make it nice and you'll probably use this room more than you know.

I suppose I am just missing something, but if the desk can't fit through the double door in the first photo, then how do you get it in the house? Does your house have a huge exterior door? Old homes usually did not. I would have guessed that it was made so the top would come off so it could fit through a standard door. Maybe it was actually made for a commercial building? Just curious.

I bought a huge antique secretaries desk and then found it wouldn't fit through the door of my rural schoolhouse home. I did manage to fit it through a basement window and then found out later that there were hidden screws that allowed the desk top to be removed. That gave just a couple more inches of clearance needed to get it up the stairs and onto the main floor. Made it MUCH lighter for carrying also!

I'll have to look for hidden screws! Due to the hallway angles the desk can't get in the MB to then go through the double doors. But if I find hidden skrews it may work and maybe replace with wooden flooring. Thank you for all the input!
