I'm not familiar with this particular plant, but that thick green stem shows the plant is designed to survive trouble by dropping its leaves. It takes energy and water to maintain leaves--they're expensive, in terms of plant economics.

It's not happy that it got moved to a new place, with different light, and its soil was disturbed. It went into panic mode, and dropped the leaves to allow it to recover.

Give it a few weeks to acclimate, and new leaves will probably appear.

I think your choice of soil may be the problem. Neither clay nor sand are fast draining & are likely to clog the roots from taking up water & oxygen. Pls ask local gardeners or nurseries where you live how to improve your soil, what to add to it.

I had a friend in San Diego, here some of their soil is a lot of clay. They use pumice to amend their soil & make it faster draining.

Maybe try translating 'Pumice' into your local language & trying to find some that way.
