I quite like this rose and it's trouble free and consistently hardy for me. I have mine in part shade on the north side of my house in my zone 4 pocket. It has survived with little snow cover for maybe 4 years in this situation, and just calmly sits and blooms off and on all year. It isn't a prolific bloomer at any given time, but that's likely the part shade as much as anything. It'll put out a few blooms here and there all summer - I have pictures from May, June, July and August. The foliage stays very clean for me and the blooms are a nicely rich double cupped shape. The outer petals can get a little ratty now and then like a lot of light colored roses can do, and the color is more cream/blush apricot than actual white, but that's not a detriment in my book.

Mine stays relatively short and I have mine at the front of the bed, but that could be a factor of the part sun location. It has pretty flexible canes so it likes to droop over the low fence at the front of the bed or introduce itself to its neighbors.

The rose should do well for you I think!

Wow, thank you Cynthia and Pat!!! I’m excited for it now! A tiny bit different from what I was expecting color wise but that is not a bad thing. I wasn’t sure how strong the amber and yellow tones were and how white it really was. I may grow it in a large pot for a year or two until I decide exactly where to place it.

Hi Dave, My White Gold does start with more amber/yellow tones than either of my Devoniensis (they have more pink tones starting out than White Gold for me), but both WG & Devoniensis blooms fade to creamy white fairly quickly if I remember correctly.

What a great looking rose White Gold is, and very fragrant, too. That's a rose after my own heart! It reminds me of Bolero. Hope it does well for you.

My 'White Gold' had been a good solid white with a bit of yellow in the center, fragrance was amazing and with healthy dark lush foliage to boot, a real winner! I had kept it container grown, though ended up killing the thing and will definitely replace if I were to come across it again!

Anyone still growing this one? Is it still doing well with blackspot? I would love to add more whites to my garden, but want blackspot resistance.

@dianela7analabama, Have you ever grown Seafoam? The flowers are smaller, but it is a rock solid rose with a great full bushy form, excellent repeat and lovely iridescent foliage. ...just another option.

Among the white roses I grow, the most prolific and blackspot resistant is Ice Cap. It's already blooming its head off here in mid-May when most roses are just poking out a bloom or two, and it'll keep that up till after first frost. In my zone, it has absolutely clean foliage and is hardy to a virtual zone 4-ish. I think RoseFolly has been happy with that one in Colorado too, but neither of us have the blackspot issues you do. It stays a rounded 3X3 shape without excessive pruning so it's a candidate to fit within a small space. Moses, I thought of you when I was looking at this rose in my garden. Think of a rose the size and shape of a modest exercise ball and that's a good estimate.

I do still like White Gold but it's not as prolific a bloomer as Ice Cap. All my comments earlier in this thread still apply to my present plants.

If the hybrid musk/poly form of roses appeals to you, I have been very impressed with Cassie/Snowbelt. It forms a slightly larger exercise ball size bush with nonstop and early white blooms covering the bush. It's disease resistant for me and tip hardy. The blooms aren't notable by themselves but en masse it causes my husband to say things like "that white rose is really pretty".

Speaking of that comment, he makes it even more when Guirlande d'Amour starts blooming. It is a cascading monster of a bush that again blooms nonstop in small white blossoms over a Volkswagon sized bush. I've now contained mine with a 5' green wire support around it and it's starting to cascade over the top in a much more controlled fashion. I think as it gets used to that support it'll look like a fountain of white in a relatively smaller footprint. Very disease resistant and tip hardy but not a candidate for a small garden. I won best hybrid musk at our last rose show with this one.

White Veranda is a Kordes rose that is a low grower and good bloom shape with good disease resistance. Mine isn't a constant bloomer but it's in part shade - FWIW so is Ice Cap and it shrugs off any limitations of sun and blooms intensely. White Veranda is better for me than the White Meidiland or Alba Meidiland that are infrequent bloomers. Like most Kordes roses I find the foliage is very clean in my zone.

If you want a huge cascading bunch of white butterfly type blooms, I've been very impressed with Morden Snowbeauty. It makes a 4X4' bush with large arching canes that wave these delicate butterfly shaped blossoms early in the season. After a few seasons it'll start to rebloom like a lot of the Morden series but it takes some time. Tip hardy and spotless foliage for me.

Of course Bolero gets lots of mentions in being a good bloomer in a modest bush. I've had mixed results with mine for winter hardiness and haven't been able to keep one long enough to become a good bloomer yet.

Cynthia I love Guirlande, I got one after reading one of your posts for my lake property. I will have to repurchase for this new garden. I am going to look into all the ones you mentioned. I wish bolero did better here but it was a huge blackspotter and I removed it.
