Yep, my first thought was to take the two items off the top of the hutch. Normally I'm not a rug under the table kinda girl, but I think a rug would look nice. Is this an area you use daily? I like the hutch, like the simple lines of it. It doesn't scream "nanas hutch". If you don't plan or want to do a rug, maybe pretty chair pads to break up all the wood. A simple centerpiece on the table, maybe something with some greenery. Your room is very pretty.

I agree with all of the above, and strongly encourage a rug, making sure it's quite large, with a pretty color and beautiful pattern to warm up this rather strict look. Pads on the chairs in the corners would also soften the look of this room with all that brown furniture. After the black framing is painted out, it would look nice to have paintings to flank the hutch. This has all the potential of being a lovely, welcoming room.

Same. Prefer removing the black moldings to painting them wall color. They aren't a wainscoting and empty frames, while they can be a decorative element, will never be cozy in my book.

Remove those three odd black moldings. You need an area rug to break up all of that same colored wood. You need a larger dining table, that is too small. And remove the rocking chair. Rocking chairs belong in nurseries or front porches, not dining rooms.
