Paint the handrail and posts in black and leave the spindles white and paint the skirt boards white are you removing the carpet from the stairs ?

We are in the process now of paint our white spindles black. To start we lightly sanded the spindles, then wiped them down with a damp cloth and next step is to paint. We went to our local paint store and they gave us Benjamin Moore "Black" in a semi-gloss.

I agree. Paint the banister and post black, I'd say the spindles too, but your baseboard is white. Would you consider doing the walls in a taupey-grey color? Then you could go all black.

Don't paint them all black

Great product ! Good for railings and cabinets its very durable . Doing railings in all black can be dramatic but you need lots of light and a big foyer . That's why suggested the two tone black posts and railing in high gloss will look dramatic as well and do the rest in white
