Rachel- what did you end up going with? We are currently redoing our kitchen as well, going with undermount sink and considering fireclay vs. traditional enamel, etc. Wondering if fireclay is worth the extra expense and if Alfi is a good brand, as I found one that is pretty reasonable ( about 600$) by comparison. Hi Rachel-since you were kind enough to answer my first question, I thought I’d ask one more if you don’t mind..Did you have any issues installing that sink as an undermount? Alfi says although it looks like an apron sink, as they use the same mold, it can easily be installed as an undermount. I read one negative review (although it was for a 24” and we definitely will go with the 30”) and the man said he had to make an expensive adjustment to install as undermount. Just curious if you ran in to any difficulties? Thanks so much!!

Hello, We too are looking at the Alfi sink model # AB3018UM, as it's the only fireclay with the right sizing, otherwise we will have to go with a Kohler model K-5832-5U-0 Bakersfield 31". I'm glad you love it Rachel. Do you still love it? Has anyone else had experience with the Alfi brand? Thanks so much! Joannah

We still love it, 100%. Also, Carielynne16, I just saw your question. It sounds like you're asking 2 things. The sink was installed as undermount, which I think is how it's designed. No necessary adjustment. We did install ours so that the apron is towards the back and not visible from the front. We just had the cabinets built accordingly, which we wanted anyway as we're not big fans of that farmhouse look. Hope it worked out for you. Hope this helps.

Why did you turn the apron to the back if you wouldnt see it anyway -- I'm not clear on that part. Do you see the sink when you open your cabinets? Does it matter in terms of installing it? Sorry—that was wrong. The apron part is in the front but the sink is installed several inches back from the cabinet edge so that you see maple cabinet in front, a bit of the countertop ledge, then the sink. Let me know if that doesn't make sense.

I'm not sure I get it, but it doesnt matter. The point is that you like it. I'm assuming you have a wood countertop. Would love to see a photo posted, but totally understand if you dont want to. I so appreciate your experience with this sink as it's the only fireclay that might work size wise for us. Thanks again!

No, the cabinets are wood and the countertop is quartz. Ignore what I wrote about the apron being installed towards the back. The sink is installed as undermount, just as you would any sink regardless of whether the front was designed to be visible or not. I'm attaching a photo that hopefully will clarify.

We purchased the strainer- recommend..We did not need the mounting hardware as ours was new construction. Basically 2 2x4 were placed on either side of cab for sink to rest on. Our carpenter said no special hardware needed. So far so good..

Hi, We're very happy with our Alfi sink. However, we had to have several delivered because the first two were cracked. If you're buying from Home Depot, it's better to order it and pick it up yourself because UPS was not as careful with the box. First we ordered one with UPS and it was cracked in the box upon arrival; next we ordered two (just in case) and picked both up ourselves and checked before taking out of box. We returned the other boxes. We also bought the supports; our contractor installed with the supports plus additional wood supports. No problems and looks very nice. Were using the Kohler strainer in the sink and fits perfectly.

We purchased the Alfi 36" Farmhouse Sink in white back in July from Wayfair and didn't get around to installing it until recently. It is absolutely beautiful, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the proper flange for my insinkerator garbage disposal. I had read somewhere that you don't need an extended flange for this sink, however, that's not what I'm discovering. Our faucet is flat black and I wanted a flange that matched but wasn't plastic as a lot of the reviews I read had said the black paint chipped off the plastic. I ended up going with the Kohler Flange. When trying to attach the EZ mount for the garbage disposal to the flange, we couldn't get the snap ring to snap into the grooves of the flange. We ended up cutting down the lip of the EZ mount to give us more room. The snap finally got on, but it's tight. I can't even use the screws to the EZ mount. When I got a closer look at the sink and sink flange, there are some gaps between where the flange sits on top of the sink floor around the drain hole, which is preventing it from sitting flush. Given that it's fireclay, and there is a natural shape, I'm guessing that any flange is going to do this? What should I do to fill these gaps... do I use silicone caulk? This is my first fireclay sink and I'm worried after reading the horror stories of people's sinks cracking/crazing from the flange being too tight or garbage disposal being too heavy/strong. Also, I'm kind of panicking because I can see a teeny tiny (almost invisible) scratch on the floor of the sink to the right of the flange. The scratch doesn't start at the edge of the drain hole and extend out or anything, it just is there. So I'm thinking I did it while under the sink trying to get the flange in the right spot and it was moving around until I could get the mount on. Is it possible that the flange could have already caused it to crack? There isn't even a garbage disposal attached yet. From what I have read, the cracks and crazing start from the sink drain hole and move outward, they don't start at a random spot on the floor of the sink. Sorry for the long post, I'm just stressed and OCD. We haven't had a working kitchen in almost 2 months while we have been doing our own white concrete countertops. The sink is under mounted under the concrete countertop so if we have to replace the sink, it will be a job pulling it out. I think I'm just going to have to get over wasting my money for the Kohler flange, and buy an extended flange for peace of mind. Has anyone else had these problems with their Alfi sink and trying to install a garbage disposal? Thanks in advance!

sounds frustrating. We had ours installed by the people who did the work on our kitchen so I can't even offer the insight of my own experience. I hope you are able to work it out and enjoy the sink.

So sorry to hear that you're having trouble. We did not choose to install a garbage disposal either, but had our contractor arrange for the electrical outlet, in case we decide for one in the future. I hope you figure it out! Let us know.
