Can speed oven replace toaster oven and microwave?

Does anybody have any experience with speed ovens? I was thinking to clear some counter space and remove my toaster oven and instead get a speed oven... are those two devices interchangeable?
Also, has anybody accidentally used metal dishes and pressed the micro mode....?

We used the Advantium as a toaster, and while you can do it, it's not as convenient as most toasters or toaster ovens.

The biggest issue with using metal pans in the microwave mode is that the metal blocks the microwaves. If you're doing something using the microwave mode, it needs to be on something flat (like the metal platters that come with it). I typically either use the platter as my cooking pan (optionally lining it with foil).

It can replace a MW and the oven portion of a toaster oven. The toaster part not as much. We keep a pop up toaster in a drawer for making toast. The better quality 240v models (Miele, ge, Bosch) are generally very well regarded.

Ive used metal pans in combo mode (on purpose) and in MW mode (a couple times on accident) seems to be fine but generally stick with the glass tray if I'm using the MW component. This is with a miele.

OP: I just posted a long, rambling reply on another thread about our speed oven experiences. Most of it may not be relevant to your question, but have a look in case it might help.

We have never accidentally used metal when in MW mode. :) I think we've had a MW for so long that our brains 'default' to "no metal!" It's actually when we're using the speed oven as an oven that we scratch our heads for a few seconds and think, "Okay...what are we supposed to do now?"

We have a small pop up toaster for bread and bagels so the main use of the toaster oven is to quickly warm up food like pizza or toast nuts for cooking.
It sounds like this may work well for that purpose.
I was going to buy the KitchenAid speed oven to match my double oven.

I have a Miele and it has replaced my toaster oven (but not toaster). It's great for toaster oven stuff, and would probably be good for reheating with the microwave mode but I haven't messed around with that too much.

Does Wolf offer a speed oven? I can’t find it on their site...

I’m sorry but I don’t understand why people buy Wolf and subzero appliances. Perhaps that’s for another thread...

in my case it was because we were getting a wolf package. When we switched to the bluestar range and bosch dishwasher we didnt switch the convection microwave.

the wolf isnt a "speed oven" it is a convection microwave.

We have the full size Breville toaster oven bought for the kitchen reno and the Bosch speed oven. I really couldn't live without either now. I guess you could toast bread on broil in the speed oven but that mean you would have to get the rack out and it's just not as convenient or time saving. Having the versatility of both ovens makes me happy. We also have the side opening Bosch oven which is the star of the kitchen regarding how awesome the food comes out of it and ease of use.

Anthony C.. Which model of Bosch speed oven did/do you have?

Anthony, how has the Wolf turned out? Have you been able to toast anything? Has anyone been able to toast anything in their convection microwave or speed oven? Thanks! Syma

Also curious on the toasting success stories...

Me too - curious how folks make toast in a miele speed oven (and can you leave the glass tray in for this)?

we have a miele s.o. technically you can toast in it, with the metal rack but it takes so long, so we just bought a 2 slice counter toaster that we store in cab above s.o.
