1,000 cfm hood help!

we are in the middle of our kitchen remodel. the thermador hood we bought is a 36" 1,000 cfm hood. in order to vent it out there is a large transition piece that requires a depth of 10". We live in a very old house and our walls are not that deep. Add to that we have to do a make-up air adapter that will add to that 10" Anyone run into that? What did you do? And, in order to gain inches I thought maybe we could return that hood and get an insert and have a cover made for that. Would that work? Help?

Where is the duct exiting? Is it going directly out the wall behind the hood? that may alleviate that and allow for more options. You could also put a duct cover of some kind above the hood to cover the elbow.

If it must go into the wall, you can transition it to a rectangular custom sized duct that's equivalent to 10" round. It would require a competent HVAC guy to make the ducting but it's possible.

What type of cooking is this going over? If it's a 6 burner you could get away with a 600cfm if you need to.

Thanks so much for answering. We are thinking we will have to go up the wall and out to accommodate all the venting required. We don't have thick enough walls for the transition pieces (old, old house) so we need to go out the top of the hood. 1000 cfm is required here for this stove. so, I think we will either have to go with a chimney style or perhaps get an insert and have a decorative box made to contain it.
