I think you’ll get a better response posting this in the heating & air conditioning section rather than appliances.

Payne is low end carrier and bryant is next tier. You can probably save some money with payne but your carrier guy may not be able to sell it. My understanding is they are all very similar using same coils etc.

We recommend to get quotes from other companies.
Companies like Home Depot, Lowe's etc gives you a free quote and analysis without any problem.

You should also look into whether a central AC unit is the best solution for your space. We have had central AC for a few years, and where never really happy with it. Switched to a Mitsubishi mini-split heat pump, and it's like night and day. What an amazing improvement in efficiency and comfort.

But that really depends on what your place looks like, what your specific needs are, how much energy costs where you live, and how much the contractor charges for this project. As other said, get a couple of quotes.

That is about double what I would expect to pay.
