As I found out many garage door springs are rated at 10,000 cycles. Assume that there are two cars, and each opens and closes the door - that's 4 cycles per day.

10,000 / 4 = 2500 / 365 = 6.8 years maximum. This is what they give you (cause it's the cheapest) unless you ask for a heavy duty spring.
