This week I planted a 2 year old variegated Calamondin at our beach property for the guardian and his family, who live there and buy lemons every day. Unlike the "Criollo" lemon (Jamaican lime), which it replaced, the Calamondin is in full flower and will begin to produce fruits in a few weeks; and will produce fruit every day for many years. A new Criollo would not have produced the first fruit for 3 years; and then only 3-4 weeks per year. With the new tree, it is likely that the family who lives there will never have to buy a lemon again. This is an example of the many ways we strive to improve the lives of our valued employes.

The issue is not whether they like them or not; it is that every day they will have lemons for juice, for cooking, for squeezing on their food; and it will cost them no more than putting water on the tree. I lived in the Philippines 4 years and the ONLY lemon i could get was Calamondin (Kalamansi there). It was not my favorite lemon; but as the saying goes... the level of your unhappiness depends in large part upon your ability to do something about it.
