Root pruning question

Hello -

I root pruned /bare rooted several fig trees the last couple of days of January since our temperatures warmed up a bit. Since then temps have returned to typical winter temps outside near/below freezing. Containers are in the garage where it rarely gets below freezing - typically in the 40's in the garage. We have had a few days here and there that have been warm even near 70 a couple of times for a day or two and then back to freezing.

My question is how long does it take for fine roots to start growing after root pruning.

Because of available time I put the trees back into the same mix. I would like to move some into a different mix but just want to make sure I won't stress them further by moving them. My assumption would be that since it has been cold there has not really been so much opportunity for fine root regrowth and it would be ok to move them but just want to check to see what others think.

Thanks!

Brian
