Design Dilemma Kitchens Storage & Closet

Open or closed shelving??

Working on a kitchen desk area design which will be to left side of a wet bar similar to this pic.

Undecided on open or closed door shelving. What would you do??

We usually advise against a desk area in the kitchen bc of messiness but if you need it then I would do closed. You can be messy and hide it! With open shelves you have to keep up with it. Also depending on your space you can do a combination of the two.

Essentially it will be used for recipe books, paper to write on, weekly library book, incoming mail bin, etc.

Closed if its for papers. Open if it's for cook books. I like library shelves. And I really like a cookbook shelf in a kitchen. Assess the 'junkiness' factor.
