It looks more like a carpet beetle, especially if you're finding them indoors. Anthrenus verbasci is a pretty common one. The larvae look like spiky hairballs.

Seth, beetles go from the larval (grub) stage right to full-sized adulthood and do not grow after that. Adult beetles of the same species can vary in size. There is no way to tell how young an adult beetle is, although one with missing legs or antennae may have more mileage than many.
