I think a classic stainless steel hood would look good and would match the rest of your appliances.

A copper vent hood would work with the existing cabinet color and style.

But are you sure that you want to keep all of that? Is a more extensive remodel in your near future? Those exposed hinges, and whitewashed 30 year old cabinets, and 6x6 tile backsplash, and many other things say that just a hood isn’t the only thing that you might want to change here.

If you want more changes, there needs to be a comprehensive master plan to avoid backtracking and additional expense.

What are your end goals for the room? Start there. And work with a Kitchen Designer to get there.

Love your idea of a stainless steel hood izeve! Sophie, I appreciate your thoughts, but I'm older and have no intention on renovating my kitchen. When I selected the cabinet color, backsplash, etc 25 years ago, I chose things that I loved not what was trendy. Believe it or not, I still love everything about my kitchen. I'm sure the majority of people agree with you though... But for now, I'm just looking to replace the cabinet above my range with a hood vent.

Stainless would be too cold for your warm toned kitchen then. Copper or brass would be the better choice. You might also think about tying in the knobs and pulls to the hood color chosen.

No it won’t clash. But you could have those stove knobs powder coated brass metallic and it would add a lot of style. If you find the cost of a brass hood prohibitive, you could also have a less expensive stainless hood powder coated as well.
