Hoping to find guidance from the talented Houzz community to help me figure out the trim color (wood stain) for my new kitchen.

Is there a rule of thumb for two-tone cabinet trim colors?

We will have a wall of cabinets in two-tone wood stains. The cabinets will be ceiling height and will have a wood trim where the cabinet meets the ceiling. We’re tying to figure out if we should match the trim to the cabinet below (two-tone trim) OR choose one color wood stain for the entire upper cabinet trim? And, if we choose one color for the trim, which color should we choose?

Once we figure out the upper cabinet trim do we match the lower trim the same way?
