I would paint the walls and ceiling all one color to minimize the effect of the sloped ceiling. Since you want wooden blinds on the door as well, I’d try to do an outside mount, which may be difficult with the sloped ceiling, but measure and sketch it out. You can have them lined with dim out or blackout lining to help with neighbors lights. I’m torn out curtains. If you could hang them high, it would help take away from the shortness of the windows, but they may just highlight the shortness, since you can’t hang them high due to the sloped ceiling. Sketch it out. It’s all easy geometry and it will help you visualize.

After speaking politely with the neighbors, purchase sodium vapor "security light", or two, and make sure it illuminates all the way to the end of your property. Yes, it's rude to do so but, it works.

Thanks for these ideas, particularly sketching. I’m not confident about this at all and really feel like I could make an expensive mistake. But I’m going to try sketching it. Walls and ceiling are the same color. We had the deep texture removed from the sloped ceiling.

Also? I would move the head of the bed to where the dresser is and install indoor shutters similar to those on southern plantation type homes. Also room darkening shades that are pleated and can be brought up from the bottom up or from the top down.

Woven woods would look DELIGHTFUL in this space!
