:) the middle is before. Bottom and top is after refinishing with reddish brown TransTint and satin waterbased General Finish.

1st try was water based Minwax terra cotta.

2nd try danish oil (good but not enough color change).

It was my first go at refinishing maple cabs. Didn’t know they were so tough to accept color.

The color wouldn’t be my preference either; helping someone achieve this orange-red-brown look.

If you can look past this awful color...is the variation in color what you would expect with maple?

I’ll try to post some more clear/detailed pics. The dye turned out really great, accentuating character in some places. The issue is consistency throughout. Bases turned out a little different than doors...some doors absorbed more/less dye than others.

Looks like what I would expect trying to stain maple. It does not take stain well.
