How should I train this Asian Pear?

Meet my New Century Asian Pear, a dwarf from Stark that is entering its third season in the ground here. Last fall I put the brace on to separate the two leaders that were only a few inches apart. Now I am thinking that I should really just eliminate one? The split starts at about three feet. Both "leaders" are now about nine feet. The question is whether fruit trees necessarily need a single leader. If not, what is the best way to train this tree to have an attractive and productive form. I hope you can make out the branches in these photos. Thank you. (Also posted on tree forum).
