I found my arabicum seedlings to be stronger, bigger and far more robust than say obesum or other varieties. Yes they were taller, eventually, but definitely not skinny and tall. For starters the seeds themselves were twice the size of all others.

Hate to mention this but these look a little drawn out/etiolated as they’re on the tall and thin side in having just the single set of leaves. Sorry if I sound negative, just pointing out what I see to try and help :-) Are they getting good light for as long as possible? Anyway you can increase light levels in the hope they will fatten up? Admittedly I have only germinated a few arabicum but the shortest at the two leaf stage were like barrels, a few that did grow taller when at this very early stage were much stouter almost looking like miniature baobabs.

I sowed (on a heat mat) these the same way I did last Feb. when I was given A.obesum seeds from a very sweet person on this forum. Plus these seeds are under a T5 light for 13-14 hours a day (which I did not have when germinating/growing the A. obesum seeds). My weather has been too rainy the last few weeks, but the forecast is showing more sunshine and warmer days, so I will be putting them outdoors.

Hi Jeannie, interesting to read that these have been under lights, I would have thought that would have made them stockier? Maybe it’s the varieties as there are differences in their sizes? Will be good to follow them through.

This weather is so changeable, have read that many countries are having odd weather recently. We are snowed in again here -9C last night and more heavy snow forecast.

Jeannie maybe lower the light down or if the bulbs are old replace them they to loose there efficiency T5 lights are what i use i drop the light right down to about 150mm off the seedlings:×)

I did raise the plants closer to the light yesterday....just hoping it wouldn't burn them. This is my first time growing under lights. I purchased the T5 lights (2 of them) a few months back, so I know they are not old. It said 6 types of Adenium arabicum on the auction, so I will wait and see.

Also, I believe the seller is also Best_Plumeria, as I have won/purchased Plumeria and Adenium seeds (labeled and packaged well) from both and the mailing address is the same. I have already sowed more of the Adenium obesum and some Plumeria seeds and they both have had good germination :)
