"The bigger leaves are the same from last year, they stayed green all winter"

They should........in zone 8b heucheras should be fully evergreen!!

what will happen to the leaves from last year, are they going to eventually wilt away and die off so that the new will come through, or will this plant just get more and more leaves each year ? I had thought they were going to get raggedy looking and die off like hostas, then the new will come back and look pretty. So im curious to know if the old leaves will get purple veins like the new leaves do or will they just satay that color now ?

Older leaves can eventually dry up and die off - every evergreen plant will go through some periodic shedding of old foliage. But in a well established clump it should not be noticeable. The heuchs in my garden just get bigger and bigger each season.........if I were to lift up their "skirts", I would likely see some old dry foliage but it is not overly noticeable. Except on those that I grow in containers........but then those are more prominently displayed and I tend to groom my container plantings more than I do those in the ground :-)

I trim mine when they get ragged looking and/or too big. The "mama" plant for those was about 2 feet across before I trimmed it a week ago. On mine, the older leaves tend to darken up over time.

It's one of 10 or more divisions from a plant I bought about 10 years ago when we lived near Raleigh. I took some divisions with me when we moved. Between the divisions and seedlings from the original plant, it has been a real bargain.
