Oursteelers- good question. I have been smitten with Blue Dolphin since I saw a photo online. And I’ve thought about buying it, but I haven’t seen it in person and I haven’t seen anyone post it here in the forum. Except I think Don had one? Blueberry Muffin which used to be a big Hosta in my yard. My distinctions have improved and I now recognize this as a vole damaged Hosta. Smaller leaves on the outside, bigger in the center. I think I’ll dig this one up today and put it in a vole proof bag. So much for restfulness.

Karin, that Fulda has some weird magical elegance to it that always grabs me. Also, that Wheaton Thunder does look fantastic in the single pic in the HL, no listing in the AHS registry though. A sport of Wheaton Blue maybe?... which is a sport of Paul's Glory.

BME has been very vigorous in my garden indeed. I have been impressed with the growth of Ruffled Mouse Ears too, I wish the variegated had the same growth curve. Thanks guy & gals!

nicholsworth your BME are adorable and should do really well. Yes the leaves are very round when young/emerging aren't they. Regal Splendor is in my top 10 and has been in my garden for at least 12 years.

Such nice Blue's everyone. My problem with blues is hard water. It leaves ugly spots. It's not possible to hand water around here so there are a few areas where I've grouped them and used a dripping water system.

Anne, I stapled hardware cloth over the holes we drilled in the barrel bottoms to keep the voles out. Your winters are mild enough for barrels. I’ve got DH keeping his eyes open for more of them for my yarden.

Laurie, I think your Mystic Star is the one that made me buy one. Isn’t it just the greatest color of blue?

zkathy..you talked me into it!..I looked at your pic again..is your barrel wood?..I thought that I saw weathering which I love..weathered wood looks good in my setting (and yours) in my opinion..I'm not opposed to plastic but I thought maybe the cold could crack it..your Solomon's Seal looks great..I need to plant some..sigh..no end to "projects"..

Kathy I hope it was me, I love being an enabler! I don't recall anyone else posting Mystic Star. It is always good for forum members to see how it performs in different zones and just good fun that we both have it.

It really is a great colour of blue and I love the metallic sheen it takes on later in the season too!

Yes, real whiskey barrels. They don’t show up often, I grabbed six a few years ago and I’m looking for more. They really help with level changes and of course vole control. Here’s a better picture of how I’m using the barrel.

Kathy, love the barrels. The local Menards had a bunch of the whiskey barrels last week. Think I'll get me a couple. Last year they also had the whole barrels and some cut length wise.
