I spent some time “feeling” Mohawk, Coretec, Shaw’s Floorte and finally looked at Lifeproof. I have a pretty rigorous family and am interested in durability, but the biggest difference I can see is the “beveled edge” business on the planks. Lifeproof does not have those fancy bevels but I tell you what—it looks and feels pretty nice. I really don’t think you can go wrong. What I don’t have handy is a plank of Flooret Modin or Metroflor Engage Genesis to look at, and those were the brands I was trying to choose between based on availability....I think it comes down to color preference and plank size.

Looking at both- Lifeproof Heirloom Pine and Coretec Appalachian Pine- the Cortec texture is much more realistic. My husband looked at the Coretec sample and asked if it was wood.

When comparing products, one MUST do an Apples to Apples comparision. One comment stated that Lifetime has a 6mil wear layer vs 20 mil on Cortex Plus. Keep in mind that each line has sublines that are thinner and or thicker. Warranties on residential are all Lifetime while Commercial warranty on Lifetime can be from 5 to 7 to 10 years vs 10 years on Cortex. Cortex is not available via big box outlets and mainly through the independent channel. The prices can widely vary due to the individual offerings. They will most time price a job as Installed. Ask them to break down the price so you can evaluate the product, labor and in some cases freight charges, etc.

Naturally you will take into consideration your needs, requirements and budget.

I have had both. We just moved from a home with Lifeproof LVP into a home with COREtec. Lifeproof feels really more comfortable to walk on. It has a more rubbery underlay and much more comfortable for standing for long periods of time. Going from laminate flooors, we immediately noticed the comfort and it never felt cold, like the laminate or COREtec. COREtec is much harder on the feet, but looks more realistic to hardwood flooring.

Recently had lifeproof put in a basement/laundry area...looks great and a very easy install! Terrific for any DIYer with limited skills!

I'm thinking of going with a LifeProof LVP with a 22mil wear layer I like the Coretec as well and am really conflicted.

I ended up going with Coretec. It was installed in the summer of 2021.

I'm really pleased with it.

I also know people who have Lifeproof and they are also pleased.

@salonva, which Coretec collection did you purchase? Coretec Plus (now Original) has a WPC core and Coretec Advantage has the SPC core, which is considered more durable, but not as comfortable or visually realistic. Also, it's much more expensive than LifeProof. Do you find the extra cost to be worth it? I need to purchase 700 sq ft for a 1 bedroom rental. Thanks for your feedback!

I got Coretec Plus- Red River Hickory 5 inch.

I don't know first hand how it compares to Lifeproof. As I said, I know people are pleased with both.
