Hi Houzz Community!

Our kitchen adjoins to our family room. The kitchen has dark cherry cabinetry while the family room has white cabinetry. We are working to try and integrate the rooms as well as lighten up the kitchen. We will be to replacing the dark counters in the kitchen with marble, and changing the backsplash and paint color to something light. My question is what should we do about the cabinets? I'd like to keep the wood in the kitchen (happy with the warmth it brings) although perhaps refinish in a lighter, less red tone. I do like the white in the family room as well though, thus my design dilemma. We've considered changing just the upper cabinetry in the kitchen to white (or cream) to match the family room cabinets, but we are not sure this is the right way to go. I would very much appreciate any suggestions you may have to integrate the rooms and cabinetry.
