I need some help in choosing container plants for my yard. I have firespikes all along the front of my house, and have no issues with them. I just love them. But in my actual yard, I've got 2 tall pine trees that kill anything and everything that is planted near them. So my Husband suggested that I use colorful pots under and around the pine trees. Right now it's just brown straw. I need some color. I'm looking for shade loving, that doesn't mind some dappled light. I was thinking of purple heucheras. Any other ideas? I like purple pixie, but don't know that much about it. My neighbor mentioned vine/climbing plants that could go up the trees and fill in the yard where grass doesn't grow due to the trees. Any ideas would help, thanks!
