InSinkErator air switch recall

Just got a notice from Amazon that my InSinkErator air switch is being recalled. Check here for more details. Registering for them to send me a new one was a matter of about 90 sec. Bummers.

Well crap. That’s exactly what we were planning on installing next week

Thank you for posting this. I was unaware of this recall and have an affected unit. As you said, registration was easy.

Thank you for letting us know. My new units are not part of the recall. Finally something that went right with my build.

Thank you. We have an air switch in our new build. I still have to check if ours is affected. Considering how our build has gone it won't surprise me if ours needs replacing.

I looked into this because I’ve had these in 2 homes for years. The only problem that showed up is if water drips under your sink onto the unit and seeps into the rear where the prongs go into the wall outlet. This could be due to improperly installed faucets, gaskets, sealer around the sink or the air button to the switch not tightened right. If your situation is dry as it should be anyways, there is really no risk. Don’t panic. But if you do want a replacement, it’s odd they do not want these returned, because how does this make sure they are actually removed from service. Kinda odd ?

Has anyone received a response to their request yet? I put mine in last week and haven't received an email back from the company yet.

Me too and I've registered but have not heard any updates about shipping a fix. Strange: Their site says that the switch is replaced. I'm surprised they don't just provide a plastic piece shaped like an under-sink trap, so that any dripping water will just drip off of the bend rather than follow a straight tube down to the device. Wouldn't snapping the tubing into the rigid shape provide enough protection?

My new switch showed up last week. It is a whole brand new switch.

I received my unit about a week after registering. No notice, it just shipped. All you really need to do is make sure your faucets, pipes, soap dispenser and the air-button itself are properly sealed in place. Surface water on the counter can seep around things and get to drip underneath. If things are dry, no concern about this. Simply a drip loop on the tubing itself before it does up to the module connector is a good practice like what you suggested with no parts needed.

Just received mine yesterday. They replaced my single-outlet air switch with a double-outlet. It's the entire air switch assembly -- from the air switch on the top of the counter to the box that plugs in to the outlet. I didn't expect the entire thing to be replaced (or upgraded!)

We got ours about 10 days ago with no tracking or anything from the company. Just *poof* arrived on our doorstep!
