The leaves are now falling off at rapid rate. How do I know if the plant is dying or just in shock and will recover?!?! The caudex is firm. No obvious stem rot. Have not taken it out soil or pot to check roots.

Diem it could be just shock you should becoming into spring? If so just lift it out wash the soil off and inspect for rot DR drop there leaves untill they adjust. What i would do is to look at some old threads that have touched on what sort of soil mix to use in your area i cannot advise you as i live in Australia and we use very different mixes for our climate . Do not leave it sitting in water that will kill the plant quicker than anything. Sit it in a shady sunny spot for a couple of weeks then slowly move it into more sun untill it gets aleast six hours of sun.good luck. :×)

I've also bought Adenium three times from nurseries. Yellowing and falling leaves is normal as long as there is a change in the environment. The plant enters a resting phase until it adapts to the new environment. Even
if the plant remains without leaves, it will budded again if the
watering - the temperature and the sun exposure regime is respected! :)

I'm with Rachel and others on this one. It is perfectly normal for any plant to go through stress with a change of location - especially one this drastic, going from an outdoor greenhouse to indoors. Give it time and in a few weeks it'll settle in, but DO NOT water it much. You already did but I'd strongly suggest you do not water it again for at least a week or two and let it dry back out. While stressed the roots will not be taking up moisture effectively and will be much more likely to rot. Within a couple of weeks it should start to show some new growth and that's when you may safely resume some watering, IMO.

thank you so much all. I panicked and gave the plant to my mother with the green thumb. She has since repotted and brought the plant back outside. We are seeing new growth!

We live in humid climate. Temperatures currently 70-80s farenheit during the day and 60s degree farenheit at night

just some old leaves dying off as new ones come. they may fall off completely in the fall. No big deal, your fine.

I wonder if the nursey fertilized it before you bought it? Mine turned yellow like that once, when I over fertilized it.
