Library/study needs a fresh look

I love this room, but don’t love all the wood. I am thinking of painting the built ins and walls. I love a light navy look but don’t know if that is too much for the walls/built ins. Maybe with white dove crown?! Looking for advice and ideas of what to do with this space. I need a change in here!

I love this blue color so much!! Would this be too much on 4 walls?? Two solid walls are built ins and the other two walls have big windows. Would you paint the crown white or same as walls?

I would paint all the walls and built ins, likely in a semi gloss on the wood but an eggshell on the walls. I think it gives a richer and more cohesive look,like a jewel box. From your pics,I would keep the crown (that is the white piece on your ceiling,right?) matching the ceiling. If you don't want to paint the wood, you can just paint or wallpaper the back of the built in shelves a different color - that would break things up quite a bit.
