I still plant them :-) Just switched to the Bounce series, which are mildew resistant.

New Guineas are resistant as well.

I have some species to plant this year (one annual and one tender perennial) vs std garden variety. This is assuming they sprout (haven't yet) in my winter sowing jugs.

DB. New Guineas or some variant that is DI free ? Just curious. IW used to be my default bedding of choice and due to IW, I learned to look at others and actually appreciate the ~forced knowledge~ on replacements

Actually I have balsamina reseeding in beds successfully. This years new additions are glandulifera and namchabarwensis.

I’m trying SunPatiens for the first time. Testing to see if they can take real sun (Texas).

My go-to is Pentas for dependable blooming. Love their non-stop sweet little flowers and how they thrive in our sun/heat. Such easy keepers.

SP can take the sun. Just a tad pricey but I suppose one needs to pay the piper for their breeding

We have never had downy mildew. Too cold for it to survive the winter and spread around I guess. I have always fulled my front north facing flower bed with them and I'll do it again this year. I grow my own plants from gathered seed and some I buy
