We just ordered appliances and I believe GE makes the black stainless because we needed 4 GE appliances to get a $600 rebate.

Samsung has a Black Stainless vent hood as well.

Stay away from black stainless all together. It’s worde than avacado green. At least the enamel in the avacado appliances didn’t scratch or peel and show the shiny stainless under the film coating.

Just wander around someplace like Best Buy's Pacific Sales and look at the condition of the black stainless display models. The "Black" is just a film applied over stainless and you'll see the wear-through and scratches on the demo units.

Bad choice of color for appliances IMO as stated will go the way of the DoDo very soon.

Definitely notice the scratches on it are easy..Its our first home and only plan on being there a few years and we got everything on clearance. But the Black Stainless is a contrast point for the kitchen since we went with grey and white wash flooring, white cabinets, and not sure of countertop color..We almost with the GE cafe black slate but opted for LG since its going to be flipped in a few years.

If you are only planning on being in the house a few years, consider resale. Will black stainless still be popular in a few years? Will scratches in the appliances be a turn-off to prospective buyers? Most folks don't want be looking at appliance replacement when purchasing a home (unless they are planning to buy a project).

Listen to the pros above who are recommending against it. They know the market and have a feel for what's going "out" and what people are asking for.

After reading reviews and points of view on here , we have decided to go with stainless steel. I'm a neat freak so I hope I'm not sorry.

Not to mention that a cooking zone on the island is the most expensive and worst place that it can possibly be planned to be.

We went with the Frigidaire Pro series,smudge proof SS for our new build. wall oven, cooktop, Dw & fridge & for the MW; we are putting it in the island so we have ordered a sharp 24 MW drawer for the island.
