I need decorating help!

We bought our house 1 yr ago and bought new furniture for all the rooms. I’m really having a hard time on how to decorate. Let’s start with the dining room. Paint is revere pewter and oyster bay. I think the colors should be switched to have more color on top. Dining room is open to living room that is painted mindful gray. I need help please...any suggestions?

Yep right inside..that is the spot.

49” top to bottom and 17 11/16 wide. That’s the size of the glass. The width of the frame in between is 3 5/8

Ok went in and put your measurements on with inside mount...but best for you to call customer service with a custom order..they are great to work with and will go over the order with you before ordering...they still have 25% off so looks like all three Roman shades lined would be a total of about. $290.

Got the light up... LOVE IT!! Looks sooo nice. I’ll call Monday for the shades. Thank you so much for all your help:)

    Check out the ceiling;)

I took 2 chairs from table cause it seemed too crowded. Was going to put them in the corners and put pillows on them, again too crowded. I don’t like a lot of clutter.

What are your thoughts on removing the chair rail? I still want to paint the window and the trim white. I really don’t want to stain the window. I’ll have to work on that. Living room will get shades and once I decide on the wall unit I’ll let you know. What would you suggest I put where the wall unit is now, if anything?

    Light is awesome!

how about painting chair rail and window..a nice white..will make a really big difference.

are you asking about the tv unit? Replacing it?

Yes, if I were to move the center piece with the tv to the other wall, what should I do with the empty space?

Hi, I think it would all go together more if you were able to darken the color of the window trim to your other trim and the walnut colored furniture because that honey oak is clashing and dulling it out. But of you don't want to darken it at least paint it white maybe.

Hello again I just caught up on the comments and I just wanted to say I agree with the suggested lightening of the fireplace in the family room and if you are considering black paint I wouldn't go with the chalk paint but recommend a high gloss black paint instead. Also, if you put a mirror on top of the buffet I would recommend a round hung one they suggested because a rectangle one set directly on top of the table seems to bedroom dresser to me.

Julie, any more ideas on art for the DR? What else can I do besides lamps on the buffet?
Hi Julie! I think I am going to take the plunge and paint the woodwork white like you suggested! Were you able to come with a plan for the tv?

Yes I would do a 6’ long TV media cabinet console..and hang TV or put on stand...the corner it creates to the left of TV (now on new wall) can have a small accent chair with wall art next to it..will really help balance the space out.

That art has metallic gold accents in it...not what I would suggest....I think it is from Pier One?

What type would you go with? How’s Cali doing?
Hi Julie! I started a new discussion on lamps, would you mind checking it out? I’ d love your input! :)

    Omg, I did it again...lol!

Well, I'd remove the little etagere from the corner. It detracts from the beautiful sconces.

Ok remove all your accessories from the dining room and take a image...we can start on making all the final touches:)

I love it! The white trim def made a huge difference too. The stand keeps moving, I can’t find a permanent home for it.
I’ll take pics and send them shortly:)

Well today’s plans changed and home all day:)

can chairs fit at the table?

Yep. It looks a bit crowded to me, but I can live with them there.
  • PRO

Much better...you can pull the head chairs out a bit so that the side chairs can move apart...no need to push chairs all the way under table..looks better to have them pulled out a bit all around...gives a more open feeling...

ok so need some art on the left wall....what is your budget?

i will start shopping for ideas

what size is that wall area above chair rail?

    58x78 above rail.
For the wall, I’d like to stick to $100 and below. I don’t have any extra pictures to hang there so I will have to buy something.
