Very pretty, Where would you be using it? Shower or vanity?

I think accent tiles almost always date horribly. Hate it.

bath tub surround,,,maybe. otherwise,,,hate it.

I am sorry to say I think this is probably a bad idea. You are combining two disparate trends. Mosaic accent tile which is ancient history as far as trends go and cement tiles which are very popular right now and can look really great if used in the right way. I would say the cement tile trend has many years left and could possibly be "classic" looking if used in the right place.

Hate because offset tile layout with accent of grey grout detracts from design of decorative tile. Perhaps white grout and not offsetting subways tiles?

What are the sizes of each of those tiles?

It could work if you didn't use subway tile....a large square tile with it. I don't personally like the gray/white; it seems washed out, like you're looking at a black and white photograph. Those accent tiles are beautiful when done in color, like Talavera tile.

I also think could work if the accent tiles were black, not gray.

It would be used for a bathroom in a shower area strip and possibly a tub area strip. The tile size is approximately 1.75 square. I could use white grout on all the subway tile and use gray grout in the accent strip. Still a bad idea? Was just looking for a little pop to the subway tiles and not just all white. I hate the strips of glass tile and stone.

if you backed up you'd see the problem.... the pattern of the subway tile is interrupted by the accent strip which would look really 'off'. this almost might work if your accent strip was the same height as the subway tiles, and it replaced a line of them with the overall pattern unbroken.

accent strips were invented because people got tired of looking at a wall of tile. how you place accent strips, and whether you have an accent strip, is very of the moment. honestly, not having an accent strip WILL BE DATED we just havent had the 8 years necessary for that to happen. once again, we'll get tired of looking at a plain wall of tile.

so, don't mess up the overall pattern, or skip the accents. but know this, whatever you put in *because its in style* you'll hate in 15 more years. do what you actually like now and you might still like it in the future.

Too busy looking with the simple subway tiles.

This is sort of like apples and oranges...if you want a border ....the tiles need to be more similar ...in material....sheen....style..

I think it's just too busy with the subway tile, especially if the subway is grouted in anything but white. For me, it's the combination of the various patterns on such small mosaics that is too much. White grout, and larger patterned tiles would work better IMHO.

Hate might be too strong a word, but I am definitely not a fan. I am generally not ever fond of accent tile, for me it tends to be 'all or nothing'. And even though it's everywhere, I happen to love subway tile (always have, always will) particularly for its simple, classic look. It is not the type of tile I think should be accented in any way, beyond possibly choosing a contrasting grout. To each their own.
