I think a standard height door with the transom window over the door is the way to go.

The space is a bit narrow and I am guessing that you want to delineate the space as a foyer or front hallway, separate and distinct from the living room. I would first suggest an alternate plan that would achieve that and might me cheaper. An architectural arch (lesser scale and detail to the one below) would serve that purpose and without seeing your whole space could work. Add panel moulding and simple wainscotting and paint out or wallpaper the front and you've got two distinct spaces.

Of, if you need/want the doors you could do the french with transom (they would be very narrow doors but would preserve space in the living room when opened.

Like the transom idea regardless of single or french doors and then dropping the actual door frame to standard height. It would fit "architecturally" with the space shown in the picture. Again on the hallway side of the door I would tie it together by putting wainscotting in the hallway to really make it an entrance.

Or just change colour with the arch or the french doors to make entrance feel interesting. Pictures important as is lighting.

Hang art or pictures in a museum style down the hallway, leading you into the living room and a runner if you can find one long enough.

I would 100% use french door so that you can still see down the hallway or into the living room.
