Removing the little triangles in the roofline

so the overall plan is to recolor, add a stone veneer thing to the garage, spiff up the porch and flatten out those little roof triangle things. Who exactly do i contact for that job or what is the search term for those little triangle dealies? It's not really a full roofline change, it has zero effect on ceilings and the rest of the house, and as far as i can tell are completely decorative. Having a hard time knowing what a good quote would be.

any other suggestions on how to modern up the front a bit would be nice too, but should be a good start.... (i dont know how to recolor well... so just ignore that)

I actually prefer your before picture with the dormers. And without the fake stone on the garage.

i think the house would look better with the garage doors painted, more substantial trim and porch columns.

No, no no, to the stone on the garage. For the rest, call an architect, and ......re imagine a bit more. : ) for the entire facade. The peaks aren't the problem

Maybe false gables? I think that would be a good starting point when taking to contractors. Good move to get rid of them.

I'd skip the stone veneer because in my mind they are right up there with false gables. Not related to anything and of no value.

But if you could widen the steps so that the front door is centered between the two posts that would be awesome. Then adjust the other three posts to be evenly spaced.

Paint colour will depend on roof colour which is currently invisible :)

Also unknown is the landscaping that might be buried under the snow.

I too am fond of my little dormer/gables (new vocabulary!) <3 <3 <3 (small victory, the internet has spoken) good ideas on the trims, columns, and the wider steps, maybe the solution is somewhere in there.

Once the snow melts, take new pix. Then take one of them to an architect and another to a landscape architect. Your garage is already dominating the house, so any stone will just add more visual weight and volume to it. That's a "No!" The porch needs a re-work and the skinny posts should be replaced by beefy ones. I see one neighbor is gray. What's the other one? You need to be the excitement here, so pick your color carefully.

Most remodeling/home improvement contractors should be able to handle the roof modifications for you. I agree with those that spoke above... Not sure if the suggested changes are the right fix. Make sure you get a good design professional to help with the concept before you start spending lots of money on changes. The design effort will be money well spent.
