suggestions for kitchen corner

I haven’t determined where cabinets will go in this new build yet, but my main concern is the corner where the two counters meet.
I want clean and simple lines. I’m wondering if I need to have one of those cabinets that goes all the way to countertop to balance the refrigerator.
Thoughts on cabinetry plan for my kitchen?
Note:No window above countertop
Countertop in front of door as you enter will only be countertop and no cabinetry above.

Thanks in advance for ideas whether shelving, cabinets, etx.

No. Balance is not that important since your kitchen is not symmetrical. However, your wall ovens and fridge kind of work as nice kitchen bookends.

I suggest you center your window between the cooktop wall and the right side of the fridge and move the dishwasher to the left of the sink. It is better to keep your dishwasher out of your sink-cooktop prep zone.

I'd eliminate the stools on the cookzone side of the island.

I echo what benjesbride wrote. I drew it up to illustrate her suggestions, plus I made a change to the island's size, reducing it from 63" to 51" deep and lengthening it by 5", from 90" to 95".

It's going to be hard to clean the center of a 63" deep island unless you're tall, plus that puts 24" deep cabinets under the seating overhang. It won't be easy or fun to dig things out of deep cabinets under the counter.

A 51" island still allows you to put 2 seats on the short end, a 15 1/2" seating overhang (minimum recommended is 15") and 10" deep cabinets accessible under the overhang. If you, your family and friends are tall, make the overhang 18" deep so that it's more comfortable to sit at the counter. Talk to your builder and fabricator in advance to be sure the overhang is properly supported before cabinets are installed (search forum for tips, great info provided by Joseph, one of our resident experts).

48" is ample room behind seating on the short end of the island so I made the island a little longer.

Is that a window over the cook top? No hood? No. Just no. You need proper ventilation. If you want windows on that wall, put a narrow window on each side of the cook top. Or eliminate the window on that wall and put 3 windows on the sink wall.

I did a first stab at island cab configuration for you but it's just for you to see how things might work. I also drew in upper cabinets and added a Super Susan in the corner. I couldn't spec other cab sizes; there isn't enough information on the drawing to do that.

Have you done your kitchen tally and determined how much storage you need and where? Do this before finalizing your kitchen cabinet plan.

I used blue painter's tape, marking out drawer sizes on my counters, to determine my storage plan.

    Lisa_a,
Thank you for your in depth response. The window is already placed as shown on my plan. It was aligned with the center of the island.
I can't do anything about that window now.
So my dilemma is how upper cabinets play out. Have them on wall where sink is and between sink and corner? That may look weird to not have one between sink and refrigerator?
There is no window above cooktop. Hood will go there.

Window above sink is already framed. Too late to change.
    Ideas now?
