Have you tried putting the chairs facing the sofa to make a cozy conversation area? I would take the faux tree out of the corner and place it between the windows.

This comment made me laugh btydrvn :) yes, thank G-d, there are still children playing there! (I hope there always are ❤️) but, I thankfully have had two kids since starting this thread. Although I tend to like things “just so”, I hope that my house can always be kid-friendly and open.

I am going to keep the layout as is, but I appreciate the comment Amanda. I’ve just tried so many options and really want open space for tea parties and puzzles and the what not that happens here (before I clean up to take pictures!).
Dsimber, the painting above the couch is of the temple that will be rebuilt when the messiah comes. We believe that there will be only peace and joy during that time. No war, no sickness, etc. The singer playing the violin represents that joy to me- especially as music is a big thing in my home. My kids love music, and while no one is really talented in any way :)-we are always singing. Further, i appreciate the visible religious garb as it represents (to me) pride in who we are- something I want my children to be reminded of constantly.

Thank you for sharing and explaining. The connection between the paintings is subtle, yet such an appropriate connection for your family. How wonderful that you are always singing. My DIL sings and dances every day with her 14-month-old daughter. There is joy in that household, too! Children bring so many gifts. ❤️

For anyone as visual as I am, I taped it out. This is the size with a 1” frame. I may try to go larger in the frame, but I know it can’t get much larger than 1”. I think it’s an ok size.

I had mentioned using a mat with it to enlarge it just a little bit, but I’m not sure if that would look good because you’re large art is not matted. Although your family photos are. I’m just thinking out loud here. 😊

Another thought I would mention is, if you could paint your register vent and perhaps get outlet covers that are not so white, could help that Wall out a little bit as well.

Alice, you’re speaking my exact thoughts. There is an other one and I can post a picture. But will two be too much? Especially with a gallery wall of 9 on the other wall?

I’m thinking back when I did my gallery wall and asked Google about an adjacent wall and it suggested a single is fine or two. I’m thinking with your large art above your sofa then two there that are vertical perhaps the same size but not larger would look great. Especially if they are compatible pieces of art. You may could even go a bit smaller with the two pieces, perhaps not in height, but width.

The artist has been a pleasure to work with. I’m sure I can ask her to crop a little of width and keep the height if that’s what’s recommended. I can also only do a half inch frame, keeping each piece to 21x31

OMG! How can you not use both now! Love them together. Yes, I agree, they need to be moved down. The size should be fine b/c there are two instead of one. If you wanted to use a narrower frame, that would work too. Tape out two to see how you like it. ...and move down. The large painting is higher b/c it is over the sofa. These paintings/prints do not need to be high or match the height of the larger piece.

Ok! Obviously placement here is poor! (Can you tell I’m short and was struggling? :)) The thinner one is 19”x31”, so assuming the artist can print in an 18”x30” and I would frame with a half inch frame. The wider on is 22” x32”so the standard 20x30 print and a 1” frame. I think two of either can work. Which do you prefer?

I could also do a half inch frame on the larger print, instead of the one inch I have measured out, to make it a smidge smaller, for some reason I find myself favoring the larger one. If it can work, I could definitely do the smaller frame

I’m thinking they would both be fine as the left side size. You are making them both the same, correct? And they don’t need a big frame 1/2 inch would be fine. There’s such interest in the art alone and you don’t wanna take away from that with the frames. Especially if you’re using two side-by-side in my opinion.

Thanks Alice and happyleg! I know I taped them out, but was still surprised by the size. Is it weird if I use the same frame as the big art?

I think the thicker frame is going to be too heavy on these pieces and it could look a little bit like a show room with exactly the same frame around the walls. Maybe a thinner gold or a darker frame with an inner gold edge to tie the gold theme if you want to do that. Frames should really be picked to enhance the art itself however…versus matching the rest of the room.

Thanks for pointing that out. I will see what options they have. I just know that most tend to lean traditional, which I don’t want. I’m waiting a bit on the framing so I have time to think. Thanks again!

Thanks Flo. I really appreciate hearing everyone’s thoughts, as I tend to get stuck in “matching”. Meaning, I would naturally only consider gold as the 10 other frames (!) in this room are gold. I’m going to have to play around more than anticipated to push myself beyond that. I was considering the exterior frame on the large art primarily to increase the size of these, but I think I just need to adjust to that too. I am strongly considering hanging these with command hooks for a bit to just allow myself to see how it fits the room and where I want to go with it. Any advice on hanging if I do go that route? I assume I keep to 60” in the middle and center on the wall, but how far apart should they bec

Finally got around to hanging. I really like it! Definitely needs frames, but I’m assuming that will cost so waiting a bit.

I also started looking at pillows! The green ones in Marshall’s/ homegoods were very plain and solid. I know I can’t do a busy pattern or design, but I wanted something a little more. Will keep looking

Pictures are lovely! The green pillows look good. I would do 2 16-18 inch square pillows. Maybe a gold lumber pillow for middle of the sofa. The length would about the size of the sofa seat.

Funny question, considering how long I fought pillows. I never really finished my living room as I still hope to knock down the wall with closets etc. But, I do want the room to look a little more finished until that happens. I think this pillow in the blue looks best in this room, and I don’t think I should have the same pillows in different colors in different rooms. Am I wrong? Any other options for either room?

I think the new art looks good! Is it the same artist as over your white sofa? You do have what appears to be the same look and layout in both rooms. Just an observation, no judgement. But maybe try something different in one of them.

Thanks pool! No, this is the first time I repeated artwork from the same artist (in the den). But I have noticed that I tend to like a very specific style of art.
Any suggestions on what to vary?

For the living room, I’m thinking to do one solid blue and one in the white: blue on each couch. Instead of placing one pillow at the end of each couch, both would be together at one end. Does that work? If so, what size insert pillow do I order? I remember seeing somewhere to order a larger insert. Is that correct?
